Daily Reset for Mom’s Calmness (in as little as 5 minutes!)

After a complete mom-meltdown, I walked out of the bedroom and sat at the kitchen table in defeat. My voice was so harsh. My body was so tense. My entire message of being kind was lost on the kids since I was yelling! I needed a reset.

However, as moms, we just don’t have the luxury of getting a 60 minute bubble bath or taking a 30 minute walk to cool off. A 20 jog around the block would cool off my temper, but I don’t have time for that right now. I want to have an activity that I can do - anywhere, anytime, that is brief and gives me BIG results!

The quickest activity you can do to reset your mind, body and soul is to meditate. Meditation is taking minutes to sit in quiet stillness, clear your mind, listen to your breathing and calm your entire being. And mama, you need rest. I want you to join me on this search for Tranquility ~ a state of no distress, serenity, so that we can feel joy, peace and love fully.

Definition  Meditation: to engage in mental exercise (such as concentration on one's breathing or repetition of a mantra) for the purpose of reaching a heightened level of spiritual awareness

What if I told you that you can reset and feel stronger in 5 minutes? Yes, please!! As moms, we are on the go and yet, we NEED to do some self-care to do it all well.

If you have never done meditation before, don’t worry! I put 3 meditations down below that are Guided Meditations. The narrator walks you through how to sit quietly, how to clear your mind and beautiful images to fill your thoughts with. These are inspiring and powerful to shift your entire attitude.

Again, I wish I could grab a nap! But today, that’s not happening. So meditation is the solution.

I want to give you a tool that you can use today to
find Tranquility

Common Positive Results from Meditating

  • Stop jumping from task to task. You will be focused.
  • Stop multitasking and feeling lost and unaccomplished.
  • This will help you to calm your mind.
  • Deep breathing is decreasing those stress hormones.
  • Your soul will feel centered on what matters most to you.
  • Creativity will flow from your mind.
  • Organization will come more easily to you.
  • Your focus will improve.
  • Your motivation will improve.
  • Your joy and happiness will increase.

Meditation can be as long as you wish, as short as 5 minutes or you can sit for 20 minutes with your mind clearing. I know some experts in meditation will sit for up to 60 minutes per day to meditate. Don’t worry, you only need a few quiet minutes.

First, find a space that is quiet. Your bathroom floor. Your kitchen table while the kids are at school. Sit at the backyard table. Close your eyes and listen to your breath. Mindfulness is about being in this moment - not in the moment of the mom-meltdown, not in the moment of tonight’s dinner - right now. Then, select the phrase you will repeat. Lastly, wrap up with positivity and power yourself up for the hours ahead.

I’ve done some searching and wanted to share 3 of the best meditations for you.

How to Meditate with Jack Canfield

I started following Jack Canfield years ago to balance work and home to the best of my ability. His book The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are To Where You Want To Be has been a wonderful guide to me on this journey. He is best known for his book series, Chicken Soup for the Mother’s Soul. He has put together a “how to” video explaining how meditation helps us clear our mind and attract more positive energy into our lives. He begins the 18 minute video with an explanation, then he leads you through a calming meditation with prompts and allows you to modify it the way that fits you best each day. Once you have seen the video and get the set-up, you can fast forward to the actual guided meditation with Jack Canfield (starts at the timestamp of 9:31 in his video).
